Training

The mandatory re-accreditation training for England and Wales (v6) has been withdrawn. This means that the senior responsible officer (SRO) or another relevant person is no longer required to complete mandatory Lexcel training within six months from the date on which they received confirmation of re-accreditation.

Publications

We have produced a number of toolkits to help practices achieve the required Lexcel Standard, which include ready-made templates which can be easily and quickly customised to meet your firm's needs.

Existing Lexcel toolkit publications have not yet been updated to reflect Lexcel v6.

Lexcel v6 contains seven sections. Section 1 from v5 ('Structures and policies') has been removed in v6 and its requirements moved to other sections.

The next toolkit to be updated for v6 will be the Lexcel Financial Management and Business Planning Toolkit.

Comparison against other standards

See how Lexcel v6 compares against Lexcel v5

See how Lexcel Core Practice Management Standards (CPMS) requirements compare against CPMS for CQS and CPMS for WIQS. This could help save you time and money if you want to be accredited against more than one of these quality marks.

Overlap with other quality standards

If your practice has other quality standards in place it is likely to be complying with a number of the Lexcel requirements already. Lexcel recognises that there are certain overlaps with other standards which may make the application process easier. Practices can undergo simultaneous assessment for Investors in People (IiP), and ISO9001 during the Lexcel process. Lexcel is also accepted as a quality standard by the Legal Aid Agency, instead of obtaining the Specialist Quality Mark (SQM).
