The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDIC) advises the Council, its boards and committees on matters of equality, diversity and inclusion and assists the Council in discharging its responsibility for equality and diversity issues.
It sets the direction and framework for diversity issues and ensures a co-ordinated approach to diversity work. The committee is also responsible for monitoring the Law Society's progress towards elimination of discrimination in all its activities as a regulator, representative body and complaints handler.
It offers advice on emerging diversity issues for the profession and clients and engage in dialogue with the profession on such issues. It also advises on equality and diversity training for Council, board and committee members.
