The Access to Justice Committee is seeking a candidate with knowledge, experience and interest in issues relevant to solicitors practising in the voluntary sector.

The Access to Justice Committee keeps under review and advises on policy formulation and negotiations with the LSC and promotes improvements in legal aid.

The Committee is seeking a candidate with knowledge, experience and interest in issues relevant to solicitors practising in the voluntary sector who can represent these interests on the Committee.

The Society’s committees provide practitioners with an opportunity to make a contribution to improving law and practice, and to supporting and promoting the role of solicitors. Applicants should have a good understanding of practical legal aid issues. You should be able to attend meetings (usually around six half-days) in London. Travel expenses are paid.

Applications are particularly welcome from minority ethnic practitioners, who are under-represented on committees.

The closing date for completed applications is Friday, 27 November 2009. Interviews will be held during week commencing 14 December 2009.
