Conveyancing Quality Scheme

  • The Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices. Membership achievement establishes a level of credibility for member firms with stakeholders (regulators, lenders, insurers and consumers) based upon:

    • the integrity of the Senior Responsible Officer and other key conveyancing staff
    • the firm's adherence to good practice management standards
    • adherence to prudent and efficient conveyancing procedures through the scheme protocol

This scheme creates a trusted community which will deter fraud - year on year, we will drive up standards.

    Who's a member?

To find your closest CQS member practice, please visit our accreditation search website where you can search by postcode for a conveyancing firm that has met and maintains our standards and practices.

    Practice agreement

We have redrafted the practice agreement. All current members and applicants are required to sign the new practice agreement.

The changes made reduce the necessity of updating the CQS team on complaints, client feedback and regulatory issues at six monthly intervals. We have been able to remove this requirement as we now assess and audit CQS members.

Members should download, sign and return the new practice agreement either by email to cqs@lawsociety.org.uk or by post to:
