What is the Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme?

The Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme covers all work undertaken by solicitors and Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX) on behalf of victims and their dependants, or compensators, as to their rights and obligations arising out of any alleged act of negligence or breach of statutory duty as a result of which the victim has sustained personal injuries or fatal injuries.

The scheme covers all types of personal injury work.

The scheme is open to those who act exclusively for claimants or defendants as well as those with a mixed practice.

Who's a member?

To view all current members of our Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme download a list of members (PDF 705kb), this list is updated each month. Members of the public can also search accredited members in their area by postcode through our accreditation site search.

How do I apply?

The general scheme application criteria and guidance (PDF 125kb) is applicable to all Law Society accreditation schemes and should be read before starting the application process.

In order to complete the application process for the Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme, please follow the steps below:

1. Read the Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme Guidance (PDF 86kb)
2. Download and complete: Section 1 - individual and organisation details (Word 41kb)
3. Download and complete the appropriate Section 2 form:
   • Section 2 - initial application (Word 165kb)
   • Section 2 - re-accreditation (Word 137kb)
4. Check the Law Society Accreditation Scheme fee schedule (PDF 71kb) for fee information.
5. Print, sign and post forms with the appropriate fee to the address below.
