Diversity and inclusion

  • The success of any legal practice is based on its ability to understand and meet the needs of its clients. Whether your clients are individuals or organisations, large or small, the need for diversity on the legal profession is growing.

We are committed to help the legal profession to be:

    • Inclusive - its composition reflecting the diversity of our society.
    • Responsive - able to provide a sensitive, appropriate and highly professional service to all sections of society.
    • Good employers - recruiting on merit and offering training and development opportunities to all employees regardless of background.
    • The charter

The Law Society Diversity and Inclusion Charter is the flagship diversity initiative of the legal profession. It is an instantly recognisable public statement of commitment by its signatories and a framework for positive action across all strands of diversity.

    • The procurement protocol

The procurement protocol is a simple public commitment by in-house legal departments to ask standard questions about the diversity policies and practices of law firms tendering for work as part of the normal tender process.
