Areas of law
Older people
Find a SolicitorThis concerns the legal issues facing older people, their relatives, carers and those who advocate on their behalf. In particular we focus on The Court of Protection and Public Guardianship Office. Elderly law may also link with community care and disability. To obtain further information you may wish to visit the Mental Health and Incapacity page.
This is an area of law where we actively seek to improve the law, procedure and practice.
These pages do not attempt to explain current law or to give legal advice on elderly law. If you want to know more or need advice on an elderly law issue, you can find an elderly law lawyer using Find a Solicitor.

The Mental Health and Disability Committee comprises solicitors, barristers, academics, charity representatives and a psychiatrist specialising in areas of mental health, disability or elderly law. The Committee identifies areas of mental health, disability and elderly law and procedure that require reform or review and formulates recommendations for consideration by ministers and officials. Committee members are consulted generally about the development of professional standards and other matters which affect the profession. For details of the committee's terms of reference, membership, and any sub committees/working parties that report to it see our directory of committees. |
