If you need to find legal help for a problem that has arisen outside England and Wales, or that has a foreign dimension, there are a variety of sources available.

• Go to Find a solicitor, our online directory of solicitors that gives a listing of qualified solicitors in the country on which you need advice.
• List of international law firms (PDF, 1.8mb) advertising in the Directory of Solicitors and Barristers.
• The bar association responsible for regulating lawyers in the country you are interested in is another source of information.
• To complain about an English solicitor working abroad, contact the Legal Complaints Service.
