Getting on to the roll

5 October 2012

Find out how to ensure that your name is on the roll of solicitors.

The only qualification for membership of the Solicitor Judges Division is that you should have your name on the roll. Some solicitors keep their name on the roll after accepting a full-time judicial post, others have let it lapse. We understand that some judges have been having difficulties when trying to restore their name to the roll.

To restore your name to the roll, all you need to do is to complete a KR4 form and send it with the fee of £20 to the SRA. The form and guidance on completion can be found on the SRA's website.

Some judges who have remained on the roll have been concerned that they have not been charged this year and as a result fear that they have been removed from the roll. Because of the confusion arising from the implementation of the online practising certificate facility, the SRA is charging only £20 to cover both 2011 and 2012.
