Freedom of information: code of practice
The Law Society believes in being open about what we do, and we make a lot of information publicly available.
Our code of practice
We're not covered by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, but we believe in being as open as possible about what we do.
Our website is the main way we promote our activities and you can find a lot of detail here about the way we work and the information we hold.
Our information code of practice is about how we as a membership body handle individual requests for information.
It tells you how you can get information from us and the sort of information we may be unable to let you have.
The code of practice only applies to information we hold. It excludes any information held by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
If you're interested in information the SRA may have, refer to the SRA website.
