Briefings and updates
For the bills in which the Law Society has an interest, the Parliamentary Unit produces briefings and commentary for the various stages – Second Reading, Committee and Report – and proposes amendments and new clauses where appropriate.
The Law Society also produces written evidence for reports to be produced by select committees, most commonly the Constitutional Affairs Committee and the Home Affairs Committee.
Where appropriate, the unit also produces briefings for more general debates in Parliament, such as Westminster Hall Debates in the Commons and Starred Questions in the Lords.
