Policy discussion and documents

Policy discussion

We conduct policy discussion in a number of areas, inviting participation from the legal profession and a broad range of related organisations. This discussion enables the Society to identify areas where it can lead the debate on issues that are of key concern to the profession.

Discussion events

The legal sector is undergoing a period of immense change, with the new business opportunities created by the Legal Services Act, the establishment and operation of the Legal Services Board and current economic conditions all having a profound impact on the way law firms do business. The Law Society hosts a series of policy discussions exploring the implications of this new legal landscape.

Policy documents

We develop policy in response to proposals for changes in the law, which come from a variety of sources, including government departments and non-governmental organisations.

Responses to consultations in relation to specific areas of law can be found on the policy documents page under each area of law or may form part of a campaign on which the Law Society is lobbying for change. You may also search for a policy document below..
