Representing solicitors
The Law Society influences the development of law and procedure in a number of ways.
Parliamentary activity
Our parliamentary activity includes lobbying on a number of Government Bills each year, producing briefings and amendments on a range of issues concerning solicitors, and more generally on law reform issues. We help in the drafting of Parliamentary Questions and Early Day Motions. The Society provides support for MPs and peers in Westminster, assisting with inquiries from MPs that include issues of public policy, points of law or constituents' problems. We also work with Assembly Members in the National Assembly for Wales and MEPs in the European Parliament.
Working with others
The Law Society works with a wide variety of external bodies across legal, government and professional institutions to achieve its objectives. These relationships are essential to the Society's key functions. Find out more.
