Our parliamentary briefing to MPs ahead of Committee Stage of the EU (Withdrawal) Bill

09 November 2017

Ahead of the EU (Withdrawal) Bill going through Committee Stage of the House of Commons, the Law Society has briefed MPs on key aspects of the Bill.

Our briefing outlines our views on:

  • The rights of citizens including the EU Fundamental Charter of Rights
  • The process of converting EU law into domestic law
  • Scope and scrutiny of the delegated powers included in the Bill
  • Devolution

We have proposed a number of amendments to the Bill and have supported others already tabled by MPs. Committee Stage will begin on 14 November 2017 and continue for eight days.
