The Law Society has backed a new and innovative education resource aimed at those considering a career in law.
The representative body for solicitors has teamed up with The Lawyer Portal (TLP), an online platform providing aspiring lawyers with access to a wealth of useful content created by industry professionals.
The partnership between TLP and the Law Society will enhance the unique online resource, which features contributions from professional bodies and law firms, and houses hundreds of pages of free guides which have been carefully created by experienced lawyers and legal education professionals.
Law Society president Christina Blacklaws said: “Our complex legal system offers a wide variety of career options, but free online resources that are solely dedicated to the world of law are rare.
“This collaboration will bring together our unique positions within the market. TLP already provides valuable content regarding the pre-qualification stages. The Law Society will deliver support and guidance for the post-qualification career phase. This combination of resources will be highly valuable to those considering a career in the solicitors’ profession.
“Through this partnership with TLP we can deliver content direct to those that want to know more about working in law, from a trusted source.”
Christina Blacklaws concluded: “We are committed to ensuring our profession reflects the diversity of society in terms of gender and ethnicity, and to helping our members find ways to increase diversity within their organisations. Supporting platforms such as TLP ensures students from all backgrounds have direct access to information at the time when they are considering a career in law. This is particularly important in light of the forthcoming changes to the process of qualifying as a solicitor.”
Rachel Davis of TLP added: “Partnering with The Law Society is incredibly exciting. We're passionate about providing trustworthy help and guidance to those considering a career in law. The Law Society's official support will allow us to offer even more resources and opportunities to a greater pool of people."
