Outstanding legal professionals short-listed for prestigious legal awards

The outstanding achievements of legal professionals across England and Wales have been recognised by the judges of the most prestigious awards in the legal calendar.

Exceptional solicitors, individuals and teams across the entire legal sector have been short-listed for the Law Society's Excellence Awards in categories ranging from Excellence in Community Investment, Solicitor of the Year to Excellence in Client Service.

This year a range of new categories have been added to the list to reflect the diverse work of the profession including Law Management Section Leader of the Year, which was open to leaders of In-house legal teams and law firms.

The shortlist spans firms of all sizes, from top City firm Eversheds to Suzanne Dibble, a self employed consultant with Virtual Lawyers Ltd. The list also includes nominees for Excellence in Equality & Diversity and Excellence in Innovation.

BBC Broadcaster Mishal Husain will present the awards at a prestigious black tie dinner and presentation ceremony which will take place on October 18th at Old Billingsgate, London, and this year the principal sponsor is NatWest.

The awards reward the most outstanding practitioners in the legal professions and are open to the entire legal sector, not just solicitors.

John Wotton, Law Society President said the standard of entries for this year's Excellence Awards has been exceptionally high, and selecting the shortlist has been a challenge for the judges.

'The firms and individuals shortlisted should be very proud. Their excellence and innovation stood out among very impressive candidates.

'The Excellence Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate what is great about the legal profession, which in recent years has experienced a turbulent economic climate and now faces the challenges created by the introduction of ABS.'

'The shortlisted candidates have demonstrated tremendous achievements across a broad range of categories, from client service to diversity, and the Excellence Awards are about recognising that.”
