Trowers & Hamlins awarded international accolade

15 May 2012

Law firm Trowers & Hamlins has been awarded the Law Society of England & Wales' Lexcel legal quality mark across all of its international offices. The firm is the first to gain the award in the Middle East.

Trowers & Hamlins' offices in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Cairo, Dubai and Oman, as well as its London, Manchester, Birmingham and Exeter offices, have gained accreditation after undergoing a rigorous application and assessment process.

Law Society President John Wotton said: 'Trowers & Hamlins has been committed to Lexcel for many years, having gained accreditation within England and Wales in 2003. The firm's offices in the Middle East were working toward compliance even before Lexcel became available internationally in 2010.

'By implementing policies, plans and procedures within Lexcel's key areas, such as client service and risk management, Trowers & Hamlins can demonstrate the positive steps they have taken to support their clients internationally. The consistency, flexibility and relevance that Lexcel provides will also provide assurances internally, as good practice principles are now supported across the entire firm.'

Jonathan Adlington, Senior Partner, Trowers and Hamlins said: 'We are proud to be the first firm to gain the Lexcel accreditation in the Middle East. It shows our clients and staff that we are managing the practice efficiently and have their best interests at heart. Being Lexcel accredited demonstrates our commitment to client care and best practice.'

Trowers & Hamlins is now one of more than 1100 other legal practices with Lexcel accreditation, including practices in Scotland, Poland and the Republic of Ireland.

To gain and retain Lexcel accreditation, practice must undergo a rigorous initial then annual application and assessment process. This includes conducting suitability checks and an on-site visit from an experienced, trained Lexcel assessor.
