£20bn reasons why the government should listen to lawyers
In his speech to the CBI this week, Law Society chief executive Desmond Hudson highlighted the vital contribution that the legal sector makes to Britain's economic growth.
He also called on the government to safeguard the UK's competitive edge in the face of growing competition from other jurisdictions.
'A strong legal sector is vital to Britain's economic growth.
'The UK needs to be more competitive for legal services to thrive; government and industry need to work more closely together.
'This is particularly important because we face growing competition from developed and emerging markets who are making inroads into areas where we once comfortably dominated.'
