In an online survey run in December, 90 per cent of respondents
said that they felt supported or very supported on anti-money
laundering (AML) compliance by the Law Society.
Where respondents had used one or more of the Law
Society's AML services, between 60 and 90 per cent of
respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with those
services.
The Law Society's online training and face to face training
services were rated particularly highly.
What was more surprising is the number of respondents who were
not making use of all of the services available to assist with AML
compliance:
- 58% of respondents are not registered for the AML e-forum which
has intelligence alerts, case updates and free training examples
for law firms;
- 81% did not use the AML directory which provides half an
hour's free legal advice on AML matters for other
solicitors;
- 68% did not attend the free MLRO networking groups which are
held around the country; and
- an astonishing 23% of respondents did not read the free AML
email update
In difficult economic times, economic crime is still prevalent.
The Law Society is committed to providing high quality products and
services to help our members meet their AML obligations, either for
free or at very competitive rates.
