Law Society launches new compliance support tools

22 November 2012

The Law Society is adding to its suite of compliance support tools with the launch of 13 new compliance documents aimed at helping firms meet their regulatory obligations.

To meet the needs of compliance officer for legal practice (COLP) and compliance officer for finance and administration (COFA) requirements, the Law Society are providing new forms, which include template risk registers, compliance monitoring forms and breach review forms, all of which have been designed to help law firms put systems and controls in place to comply with these requirements and to help compliance officers prepare for and administer their duties.

The new package of forms are the latest in a series of initiatives from the Law Society aimed at assisting firms in the new regulatory regime.

Earlier this year the Law Society launched the Compliance Reference Group (CRG) pilot to enable COLPs from the top 100 firms to submit enquiries to the Law Society on regulatory issues. It followed that up with the launch of a similar initiative for the wider profession via its Risk and Compliance Service.

Last month the Society invested in Riliance, the market-leading online support tool for law firm COLPs and COFAs, as it cranked up its offering for regulatory support for members.

The 13 new compliance forms are already available to purchase from leading legal stationers IRIS Laserform and Oyez Forms.
