Pro bono charities: trustee vacancies

23 May 2012

Applications are being sought for vacancies on the trustee boards of two leading national pro bono charities in partnership with the Law Society.

LawWorks

LawWorks, operating name of the Solicitors Pro Bono Group, increases the delivery of free legal advice to individuals and communities in need by supporting, promoting and encouraging a commitment to pro bono across the legal profession. In 2011, the charity supported the provision of legal assistance to over 36,000 individuals and 600 voluntary sector groups.

The Access to Justice Foundation

The Access to Justice Foundation provides strategic funding to the pro bono sector across England and Wales. The Foundation was established in 2008 by the Law Society, Bar Council, Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and Advice Services Alliance, and under the aegis of the Attorney General's Pro Bono Coordinating Committee. Its role was envisaged in statute, and by order of the Lord Chancellor it is the prescribed recipient of funds from 'pro bono costs' under the Legal Services Act 2007.

To apply for positions at either organisation, please complete the attached application form (Word) and return to kate.walmsley@lawsociety.org.uk by 17:00 on 14 June 2012.

Interviews with shortlisted candidates will be held at the Law Society on 20 and 21 June 2012.
