Deputy High Court Judge appointment practical seminar

Solicitor judge The Honourable Mrs Justice Moulder, Justice of the High Court appointed to the Queen’s Bench Division will host a training seminar for current solicitor judges and eligible solicitors applying for and considering the Judicial Appointments Commission’s (JAC) exercise launching on 18 January 2018.

With practical training on the evidence-based selection process from experienced business psychologist Ms Manjula Bray, together they will encourage those looking to enhance their chances of promotion in the judiciary and solicitors seriously considering this and future judicial appointments.

Networking and drinks afterwards means that other aspiring solicitor judges would also develop their understanding and judicial contacts.

Mock events

The JAC is seeking volunteers to take part in the dry run for the Fee-paid First-tier Tribunal exercise that is due to launch in January 2018. See more details about the exercise.

The JAC pilots qualifying tests, role play scenarios and other materials for specific selection exercises. Participating in a dry-run as a mock candidate is an excellent opportunity for lawyers who are considering applying for judicial appointment in future to familiarise themselves with the selection process.

Provisional dates for the different stages of the dry-runs are below, with contact details.

  • Qualifying test: 11 January 2018, approximately 2 hours 15 minutes. As this is an online test, candidates will be able to sit the test from their preferred location.
  • Role play: May 2018 TBC, approximately 45 minutes, Clive House, 70 Petty France, Westminster, London SW1H 9EX.
