  • Our staff spend over 48,000 hours every year influencing the legal environment.
  • We travelled over 1300 miles, visiting 11 separate cities in England and Wales, to bring you our Civil Justice road shows, explaining how the changes will affect you.
  • Our Practice Advice Service have assisted with around 30,000 enquiries from solicitors across the profession in the past 12 months, with 85 per cent of callers reporting that they were 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied' with the service they received.
  • In 2012 the Law Society library dealt with 16,859 telephone, email and face to face queries. They assisted with questions spanning the whole legal spectrum, from researching legal precedents, reviewing legal archives and interrogating historical journals to resolve modern legal problems.
  • There are now 4455 Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) accredited outlets across England and Wales, including 2444 head office firms and 2011 branches.
  • 300 firms, including 74 of the top 100 firms have now signed up to our Diversity and Inclusion Charter, pledging their commitment to promoting diversity, equality and inclusion throughout their work. That's over one third of all solicitors in private practice.
  • In the past 12 months 27 people were awarded a full or partial LPC scholarship through the Diversity Access Scheme.
  • Nearly 300 people attended the launch event for our new Risk and Compliance Consultancy Service in March 2013 to discover how we can help support firms assess and mitigate their risk and fulfil their regulatory obligations.
  • In the past 12 months we've sent out over 130 press releases to get the voice of the Law Society heard by the media, across the corridors of powers and in homes throughout England and Wales.
  • We've had 2,613,954 unique visitors to the Law Society web site in the past year, with nearly half of those visiting since our site was redesigned for the benefit of our members in September 2012.
  • Our family law templates have been downloaded over 5,000 times since being launched online at the end of January 2013.
  • There are on average 400,000 hits a month to our online Find A Solicitor facility.
  • In 2013 alone we've run almost 100 different events for our members, stakeholders and colleagues. This has included the opening of the legal year, the National Property Conference and 3 admissions ceremonies for new solicitors to the roll.
  • There were an estimated 180 million opportunities for the public to see our 2012 'Ask a Solicitor' campaign, including 25,327,212 online appearances. Solicitors, law centres and public libraries throughout England and Wales ordered an incredible 1,055,600 items of campaign material to use locally and improve public understanding of common legal issues and the role of solicitors.
  • The Law Society International Action Team investigated over 100 human rights cases from over 20 different countries in 2012 alone.
  • We maintain links with 130 different foreign bar associations and provide updates on our international activities to members from over 130 jurisdictions.
  • Over the past two years we've run eight inward train missions to improve UK access to emerging priority markets and to promote English law across the world. Over 200 foreign firms have travelled to the UK to meet with UK solicitors and build global relationships.
  • Our inward trade missions have also saved our members approximately 8000 hours in travel time and 10 million air miles.
  • In addition to reducing our air miles through inwards trade missions we're also committed to reducing our carbon footprint by supporting the Legal Sector Alliance. The alliance includes nearly 300 law firms and organisations who are committed to taking action on climate change and developing environmentally sustainable practices.
  • In the past 12 months we've launched six new sections and communities including the Small Firms Division, In-House Division and Equality and Diversity Section to help our members get the right information at the right time.
  • 1600 members have taken part in the 26 webinars that we have run since the start of 2013.
  • We run over 250 training courses every year for our members covering everything from workshops, seminars, networking events and discussion forums.
  • We've put together almost 100 different practice notes to provide our members with best practice advice on a range of topics including tax, regulation and compliance, property and professional development.
  • In 2012 we were once again the principle sponsor and host of the London Legal Walk. In the 8th event of its kind over 6,000 people walked 10km across the city to raise an incredible £550,000 for free legal advice agencies
