New forms (family appeals)

18 October 2016

Three new forms have been devised for use in family appeals to the Family Division of the High Court. These are:

  • Form FP161 (Appellant’s Notice)
  • Form FP162 (Respondent’s Notice)
  • Form FP244 (Application Notice)

The associated guidance notes for these forms are the:

  • FP161A (Guidance Notes on completing the Appellant’s Notice)
  • FP162A (Guidance Notes on completing the Respondent’s Notice)
  • FP244A (Application Notice Guidance Notes)
  • FP161B (Important notes for respondents). This is intended to be given to respondents with the appeal notice by the person serving the appeal notice.

A new leaflet setting out the fees payable in family appeals has been created and can now been found in the FP200 and the routes of appeal in family proceedings are set out in the leaflet FP201.

Guidance on how to appeal to the Family Division of the High Court can be found in FP202. A new N161D guidance note has been created to assist those who are appealing to the Court of Appeal (Civil Division) and the family court using the N161 application form.

Only Forms C100 and Form A are available as paper copies and can be downloaded below.

All forms and guidance notes are available to download through the HMCTS form finder website.
