Jurisdictions and materials

The library holds legislation, law reports, legal journals, parliamentary publications, practitioners' textbooks in both current and previous editions, Law Society publications, and precedents. These relate to the jurisdictions in England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the EU, Southern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Historical or unique material

The library holds the Law Society's corporate archive. This includes publications relating to the regulation of the solicitors' profession, responses to government consultations, and Law Society Committee Papers.

The Law Society's Mendham collection is housed at Canterbury Cathedral Library, and contains material on religious controversies form the medieval period to the 19th century. The Chancery Lane library has architectural drawings of the Law Society building.
