The Association of Women Solicitors (AWS) award sought to recognise the many outstanding women solicitors providing legal services in England and Wales.
Margaret is a sole practitioner employing seven staff at two offices in Yorkshire. She qualified as a solicitor by distance learning and then set up a niche practice offering specialist advice and services to the elderly. Combining modern methods with the traditional approach expected by her client group, Margaret has developed her own brand which is based on the skills a female solicitor can offer to the community.
Emma is a role model for flexible working and encouraging others to develop an effective work-life balance. Emma’s team has excellent retention rates and lengths of staff service reflect the application of an effective equality and diversity policy.
A former legal executive, Elaine is now an equity partner at the London office of an up-and-coming national firm. She commutes from Liverpool and combines management, involvement in legal training, a full legal caseload on catastrophic injuries, and family life. Elaine is committed and an outstanding role model.
