Excellence in Client Service 2009

Client service 2009 winnerThis award highlighted excellence in client care and innovative approaches to maintaining and developing client focused services. The judges looked for practices that demonstrated a leading edge commitment to client care and examples of real efforts in going the extra mile for clients. This award was open to all in the legal sector.

Winner: The Law Shop

By providing bespoke advice across a wide range of disciplines in five minute units, The Law Shop has pioneered a new approach to the delivery of legal services which is accessible, affordable and transparent.


Highly commended: Thaliwal Bridge Solicitors

Thaliwal Bridge are mental health law specialists who have made innovative and visionary use of social media to reach out to socially isolated clients.

Highly commended: Legal Services Unit - Staffordshire County Council

By focussing on client need rather than bureaucratic processes, Staffordshire have reduced costs and made a direct, positive impact on the community that the Council serves.


Shortlisted: Hartnell Chanot & Partners

Clients said they wanted family law made simpler, cheaper and more accessible. In response Hartnell Chanot created a website that focuses on every aspect of divorce or separation, broken down into distinct sections for each family member. Each section provides resources to help that family member come to terms with the end of a relationship.

Shortlisted: Kimbells LLP

Recognising that most law firms offer comparable legal advice, Kimbells differentiates itself through a level of client care which is truly ‘a step ahead'. Its client care strategy is integrated across the entire firm and all client touchpoints; its success is demonstrated through excellent client testimonials.

Shortlisted: ThomasMansfield LLP

ThomasMansfield is serious about client care, using client feedback to direct strategy, policies and product development. Recent outcomes have included Lawyers4Work - an innovative insurance-based scheme that allows clients to manage their employment-related risk, a range of DVDs and e-learning products and a national network of meeting locations so meetings are more convenient for clients.

Shortlisted: Young Adult Team - The Howard League for Penal Reform

Since its creation in 2007 the team has worked tirelessly to assist this challenging and hard to reach group. As well as literally providing a lifeline to clients in desperate need, with a freephone advice line in all prisons for example, the team also drives long-term legal change.
