Winner: Jill Read-Brown, Hartnell Chanot & Partners

Seeking justice for victims of domestic abuse and violence is not a particularly glamorous area of work. Jill Read-Brown's commitment really goes above and beyond the call of duty, campaigning tirelessly on behalf of abused women to raise awareness, influence public policy and improve services for victims. The judges felt that Jill is an absolute credit to the profession, and a truly worthy first ever winner of legal executive of the year.


Highly commended: Donald Winton, Pearl & Co

Donald commenced his career in matrimonial work after his discharge from the RAF in April 1946. Still going strong at 84 years of age, he has worked for a number of distinguished firms throughout his career and is well-respected for his extensive knowledge and helpful attitude. Sincere testimonials from grateful clients demonstrate the impact he has had on their lives and the overall contribution he has made to the profession.


Shortlisted: Craig Budsworth, Glaisyers Solicitors LLP

A specialist in road traffic accidents, Craig is committed to community education in addition to his advice work. Since 2005 Craig has been a member of the training team of the Motor Accident Solicitors Society, a non-profit organisation helping to bring justice to the victims of road accidents.

Shortlisted: Michael McGhie, Pannone LLP

Michael’s career as a legal executive has spanned a range of work from criminal defence to regulatory matters. In addition to his day job, he has been a regular adviser at the award-winning Bury Law Centre since its inception two years ago. Committed to the highest standards of client service, he derives particular satisfaction from helping vulnerable members of the public obtain the advice and assistance they need.

Peter has had a long and distinguished career as a personal injury practitioner. A linchpin of his organisation, he is well regarded by colleagues and clients alike for his warm nature and friendly, professional approach. His dedication to his clients is commendable and he has demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile to help clients achieve the best possible outcome.
