Winner: Sioban Calcott - Brethertons LLP

Sioban Calcott started her career as a legal secretary, as do many Fellows, but she not only worked her way up to a very senior position in the firm, she has also developed the firms Litigation practice, heading the team. Siobhan's and her team's contribution to the success of the firm can be seen not only in the fee income they bring in, but in the range and quality of work they undertake. Siobhan herself features as a 'Leader in her Field' in the Chambers UK directory, no mean feat. Siobhan clearly has excellent skills as a lawyer, and similarly excellent leadership skills.


Highly commended Christine Williamson - Warwickshire County Council

Christine is highly commended for her continuous dedication as a legal executive for over 30 years, 20 of those having been spent with Warwickshire county council's education legal team. She works tirelessly for her clients and recently stepped in to cover for a senior solicitor and team leader in order to ensure continuity of service, exactly the type of fellow the judges want to showcase.

Clare Cain is clearly a leading lawyer in her field - the judges were not only impressed with this but also her contribution to growing and developing a talented team. Clare is clearly someone who leads from the front, and epitomizes ILEX members' commitment to education and training.

Lorraine practises family law and in 2008 qualified as a legal executive advocate. She works tirelessly for the most vulnerable members of society, and in complex and demanding care cases. Lorraine is dedicated to her clients, compassionate and understanding of their needs, and is an invaluable member of the Truemans team.

Sharon is passionate about and committed to innovative new processes in the legal field, and extends the knowledge of others through training.

Shortlisted: Harbens Kaur - Homerton Hospital

The NHS is not-for-profit and the clinicians have their patients' best interests at heart - the combination of these two factors provides a basis for the absolute need for legal support for clinicians who face legal challenge for non-intentional errors.
