This briefing is the work of the Law Society's Intellectual Property Working Party.
The working party, which comprises some of the leading IP lawyers in England and Wales, have been specially convened to scrutinise the government's developing policy in this area on behalf of the legal profession.
The working party broadly welcomes the aims and objectives of the bill, but is concerned that some amendments to existing legislation are too broad and may run counter to the objective of increasing certainty in the law.
