BIS consultation: enhancing consumer confidence by clarifying consumer law

22 October 2012

The Law Society welcomes the government's consultation on modernising the consumer law.

We have established a reference group of expert lawyers to formulate the response of the Law Society to the BIS proposals.

Consumer law is vital to protect the interests of consumers and to ensure consumer markets work effectively.

The response highlighted the importance of reforms that result in effective and robust laws which are suitable for the complex consumer markets of the 21st century and which uphold long established principles of English contract law.
