The Law Society welcomes the Commission's consultation on the final report of the High-level Expert Group. The Law Society's Banking Reform Working Group has formulated the response of the Law Society to the wide ranging proposals made in the report.
The response highlights a number of concerns with regards to separating banks, which we believe must be taken into account before workable proposals are brought forward. At the same time we note that the proposed model of separation is more consistent with the expectations and needs of customers of banking services, compared to alternative models currently under consideration.
