Business and Human Rights Guide

9 December 2016

In their role as legal advisers, solicitors - both in-house counsel and external advisers - are increasingly asked by clients to help them understand their responsibilities with respect to human rights and how it may impact their business activities.

This guide is provided by the Law Society of England and Wales to its members about business and human rights. It is a useful resource for all practitioners and firms, including those working in specific practice areas of law such as:

  • corporate governance
  • enterprise risk management
  • reporting and disclosure, and
  • disputes

It builds on existing resources, such as the IBA's Business and Human Rights Guidance for Bar Associations and the IBA's Practical Guide on Business and Human Rights for Business Lawyers and its reference annex launched in 2016.
