We spoke with Ambassador Owen Jenkins about the legal sector, investment and business opportunities in Indonesia.
On 14 July 2020, the Indian National Association of Legal Professionals (INALP) organised a webinar in association with the Law Society of England and Wales, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Society of Asian Lawyers (SAL) on the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE): developments and what’s new. You can watch the recording below.
Our International Policy Adviser (South Asia and ASEAN) Preeti Sawhney participated as a key speaker at the session. She discussed:
The SQE format and the benefits of dual-qualifying and becoming a solicitor of England and Wales were presented.
The event was expertly moderated by Pranav Bhanot, Solicitor and Co-chair of INALP (UK Division), and also featured:
We had over 85 registrations for this online event from across India and the UK. A wide range of students from key Indian law universities including Amity, Law College of Mumbai, Symbiosis Law School, OP Jindal and Jamia Millia University attended. There were also participants from UK’s Ministry of Justice, Bar Council of Delhi, private legal firms based in India and legal fraternity from both the jurisdictions.
We received very positive feedback on the webinar. Participants liked the content and details provided by the speakers clarifying their queries about the new SQE format. The webinar helped them better understand England and Wales as a legal jurisdiction of choice and benefits of qualifying as a solicitor in the UK.
The Q&A session at the end of the webinar was interactive with panellists answering live queries about SQE and the way forward.
