Regulatory defence costs: junior lawyers survey
Recent high-profile cases have highlighted the Solicitors Regulation Authority's (SRA) approach to:
- the regulation of junior lawyers
- the resources required to pay defence costs in an SRA investigation or a potential Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal prosecution
Funding can be expensive and out of the reach of most of us.
Although some firms have insurance policies to cover these costs, they very often only cover partners and compliance officers and explicitly do not cover non-partners, including junior solicitors.
To help address this situation, law firm Leigh Day has been working with insurers to see how the insurance market might fill this void, so that junior lawyers would be protected in the same way as partners and compliance officers. They have developed a short survey seeking your views.
The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) would encourage junior lawyers to complete this survey, which is completely anonymous and will only take a few moments of your time.
