Law Society Awards
The Law Society Awards will not take place in 2022. Instead, we will be trialling alternative methods to engage, recognise and showcase the work and diversity of the profession, both in terms of the people involved and the work they undertake.
Recognising members’ achievements and their contribution to the profession, and society as a whole, is a key strategic priority for the Law Society.
Traditionally, the Law Society Awards (previously known as the Excellence Awards) have been the main route for recognising achievements, but they are not attaining the reach or impact that our members deserve.
The awards were established to celebrate some of the most outstanding talent and achievements of solicitors in England and Wales, however recent research has shown that only a small portion of the profession take part or watch each year.
“The decision to not hold the awards in 2022 has been made as part of a wider move to modernise and improve the ways we work, which includes showcasing the work of more members, the diversity of the profession and the roles within it,” a Law Society of England and Wales spokesperson said.
“We are already engaging with elected and appointed members to explore ideas to recognise and celebrate our members’ achievements, both within the profession and to those who benefit from their services.”
We are working with elected and appointed members to develop our ideas and to ensure that what we deliver is in line with what solicitors value.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have taken part in the Law Society Awards over the years, and we look forward to sharing more about our future plans over the coming months.
