Preliminary notice of council election - Central Lancashire and Northern Greater Manchester

Preliminary notice is hereby given, in accordance with Bye-Law 49, that an election of a member of the Council will shortly be taking place for the following seat:

Geographical: *Constituency No 28 - Central Lancashire and Northern Greater Manchester

This seat was unfilled following the Council elections held prior to the Annual General Meeting on 5 July 2018. The nomination committee established under Bye-Law 64 and Bye-Law 79(4) in was unable to make a nomination.


Nominations are invited from solicitors (who must be members of the Law Society) who have a registered address within the constituency concerned or who are members of a local law society in the constituency.

Candidates must be nominated by two other Law Society members who must have a registered address in the relevant constituency.

Nominations must be received by the Office of the Chief Executive, The Law Society, 113 Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1PL (DX 56 Lon/Chancery Ln) no later than 16:00 on Monday 5 November 2018.

*this constituency seat is classed as a casual vacancy as the previous member who stood down in 2018 one year earlier than the original term but was not replaced in the 2018 elections. Therefore the term of office is due to expire in July 2019.
