The Lord Chancellor has asked the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) to launch an exercise to select up to seven new members of the Court of Appeal to take up appointment from summer 2018 onwards.

All candidates must be outstanding lawyers, and will be expected to carry out the full range of civil work in the Court of Appeal.

Candidates are qualified for appointment as Lord or Lady Justices of Appeal if they satisfy the judicial appointment eligibility, conditional on a seven-year basis, or if they are judges of the High Court.
