Ministry of Justice consultation on Default County Court Judgments - Law Society response

22 February 2018

The Law Society has responded to the Ministry of Justice’s consultation on Default County Court Judgments.

We are supportive of greater signposting for consumers and greater public legal education in general. We are also supportive of proposals for defendants to be able to set aside judgments where they can evidence they were unaware of the judgment against them and pay immediately once they do become aware.

We look forward to seeing the further action taken by the Ministry of Justice once the responses have been considered.
