Lexcel v6.1 (England and Wales) and v5.1 (International)

Lexcel v6.1 and v5.1 launched in June 2018 to provide a flexible and supportive framework for members to consider and manage the impact of the following Regulations and Act on their businesses:

  • The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679);
  • The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017;
  • The European Union Financial Sanctions (Amendment of Information Provisions) Regulations 2017; and
  • The Criminal Finances Act 2017.

Changes have been made to the three core Standards for legal practices and in-house departments in England and Wales (v6.1) and for organisations accredited against the International Standard, now v5.1.

Whilst the new Standards launched in June 2018, members applying for initial or re-accreditation of Lexcel will not be assessed against these new Standards until November 2018 to allow time for new policies and documentation to be embedded for a period of three months before the assessment takes place.
