Overview of the Law Society's work on Brexit
On 29 March 2017 the UK government began the historic process of triggering Article 50 and commencing its withdrawal from the European Union.
In the 12 months since Article 50 was triggered, the Law Society has been working hard to represent, promote and support members through the Brexit process.
Currently solicitors can establish law firms and practise law across all member states across the European Union. To ensure this right continues after Brexit, the Law Society is asking solicitors to write to their MP and ask them to urge the government to negotiate and secure the continued rights of lawyers to practise, establish and have rights of audience in EU member states.
The member action consists of a suggested template letter that you can personalise and send to your local MP to urge them to support the legal services sector in the Brexit negotiations.
