Intellectual Property Office temporary fee change – ending 31 March 2021

The temporary fee change will not apply from 1 April 2021.

Intellectual Property Office (IPO) fee waivers made due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will not be extended beyond 31 March 2021.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses needed support to:

  • maintain their intellectual property
  • progress pending applications

The IPO made temporary fee changes from 30 July 2020 to 31 March 2021 to aid filers, and stimulate business activity and growth.

The fee changes applied to:

  • patents
  • supplementary protection certificates (SPCs)
  • registered designs and trademarks

From 1 April 2021, the IPO’s usual fees will apply, as the temporary fee change will not be extended.
