Ethnicity pay gap - do we really need it?
For Black History Month 2021, we look at ethnicity pay reporting, what contributes to the ethnicity pay gap and how to start reporting at your organisation.
During 2020, the Law Society has been working with the Ethnic Minority Lawyers Division on a programme of research on the career experiences of black, Asian and minority ethnic lawyers.
We conducted 22 virtual roundtable discussions with solicitors from all sectors and with those with recruitment responsibilities to talk about people's experiences at different points in their careers.
To complement the report, we would like to collect the experiences of a wider group, to examine the prevalence of challenges identified through the roundtables and to collect views on how these challenges can be collectively addressed. Our survey should take about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on your answers.
Responses will be reported on at an aggregated level, so that no individual or employer is identifiable. Quotes may be used in reporting. The survey will close on Friday 23 October.
The findings of the roundtables and the survey will be published in the autumn and will inform our further work in this area.
