This is the first in a series of ‘Challenging Approaches to Alcohol in the Workplace’ podcasts by Laura Uberoi to change attitudes and approaches to alcohol consumption in the legal profession.

Laura speaks with Laura Willoughby MBE and Kieran Pender about how alcohol is a key contributor to bullying and sexual harassment at work.

They discuss why you may want to rethink the drinks options at work events so that no-one feels out of place not drinking.

The panel also give tips on how to create a company/chambers that gives staff and clients permission to choose not to drink.

Kieran is a visiting fellow at the Australian National University Centre for International and Public Law. He has led the IBA’s work on diversity and inclusion in legal workplaces, and is the author of Us Too? Bullying and Sexual Harassment in the Legal Profession (2019). Kieran is also a freelance journalist and has reported from four continents for The Guardian.
