The JLD is proud to announce that it has chosen Refuge as its charity of the year for 2021.
Refuge support women, children and men by helping them rebuild their lives and overcome many different forms of violence and abuse; for example domestic violence, sexual violence, so-called ‘honour’-based violence, human trafficking and modern slavery, and female genital mutilation. Refuge supports more than 6,000 clients on any given day.
We are aware that all forms of domestic violence and abuse has significantly increased during COVID as a result of people becoming more isolated, and we want to show our support and unity to Refuge by raising funds for the work they are doing during the pandemic and will continue to do beyond.
We invite you to join us and support this great charity by keeping an eye out for activities you can get involved in, including:
- the 30 day challenge team walking/running challenge in January 2021
- the JLD annual conference in spring 2021 (details to be announced), there will be a charity raffle to fundraise for Refuge. If you’d like to donate a raffle prize, contact juniorlawyers@lawsociety.org.uk
Over the years the JLD has raised funds for a number of charities including Mind, Crisis and Help for Heroes.
