The JLD has written to the Solicitors Regulation Authority to advocate for the protection of junior lawyers.
On 6 May 2020, the JLD wrote to the SRA regarding a recent decision of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) concerning a junior lawyer struck off for lying to colleagues.
Along with previous SDT cases involving junior lawyers, the JLD again raises its concerns that junior lawyers are not being adequately protected by the SRA’s approach to enforcement, in that toxic working environments and mental ill-health factors seem to be ignored in favour of pursuing junior lawyers.
