Write to Rishi for further funding for our justice system

With the comprehensive spending review now underway, we’re calling on solicitors and supporters to write to the chancellor of the exchequer today to urge him to ensure that our justice system and legal services sector is equipped with the funding it needs to face the challenges of the future.

The spending review is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our justice system, which contributes significantly to our economy, underpins our society and in turn facilitates growth across other parts of our economy.

It’s vital that the chancellor hears your voice.

Write to the chancellor of the exchequer using this quick and easy tool, which takes just two minutes to complete.

The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) and the Law Society continue to be involved in discussions with the Ministry of Justice surrounding the Criminal Legal Aid Review.

A huge issue in relation to criminal legal aid defence work is the sustainability of this area of practice. This problem has been accelerated by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We’re interested in hearing whether junior lawyers working in criminal legal aid have experienced redundancy or face redundancy consultations in their firms.

You can email the JLD on a confidential basis if you or your firm are experiencing these issues.
