Ministry of Justice Legal Aid Review – get involved
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is conducting a Criminal Legal Aid Review to consider the future of the criminal legal aid fee schemes.
A final report, including any recommendations, will be delivered towards the end of the summer 2020.
Have your say
Join an MoJ focus group
The MoJ is holding a series of focus groups for criminal defence solicitors and solicitor-advocates in England and Wales.
The MoJ wants to:
- hear your perspectives and experiences
- understand your views on how well legal aid fees cover work done
- understand the sustainability of the payment metrics currently used
- get general views and comments on criminal legal aid as a front-line practitioner
Host an MoJ or LAA employee
The MoJ is looking for firms in England and Wales who are willing to host an MoJ or Legal Aid Agency employee in their office for anything between one and three days.
This will help the MoJ get a better understanding of your day-to-day work and the issues you face.
The MoJ is looking for firms particularly in the following areas (although other areas can be considered as well):
If you would like to take part please contact Alice Mutasa (Law Society policy adviser).
