Gazette to become fully digital magazine

The Law Society Gazette will move online and become a fully digital magazine from January 2022.

Available at any time, on any device, the digital Law Society Gazette will make it easier than ever to access legal news and expert analysis, including insight by leading figures, such as Joshua Rozenberg, Rachel Rothwell and Jonathan Goldsmith.

The final version of the print magazine will be published on 13 December. The digital magazine will continue from January 2022 and be delivered direct to your inbox each Friday.

The move reflects the changing ways that people are engaging with the Gazette.

A significant number of people now rely on our website, and the pandemic has accelerated the trend towards publications moving fully online.

We are determined to provide value to members. Last year, the Law Society reduced the amount we received through the practising certificate fee by a total of £3 million.

In the face of ongoing uncertainty, we will maintain our proportion of the fee at the same level for the year ahead. We are also proactively reviewing all activities to ensure we are using member funds as effectively as possible.

We also know that solicitors are increasingly concerned about sustainability and climate issues.

Ceasing the print and distribution of 68,069 copies of the magazine each week will not only save funds; it will also reduce our carbon footprint and have a positive environmental impact.

What do you need to do?

If you already receive the Gazette Daily Update emails, you don’t need to do anything. The digital magazine will be included in your daily email, with a new issue every Friday.

If you have not signed up for the Gazette Daily Update, visit lawgazette.co.uk and register your details.
