Q&A with Rachel Davis

Rachel Davis is managing director of the Lawyer Portal and a qualified solicitor.

Rachel Davis1. You're talking to a friend of a friend at a party. How do you describe what you do?

I co-created and now head up The Lawyer Portal - a leading online platform which provides guidance, information and events to aspiring lawyers across the UK, in partnership with the Law Society of England and Wales and many leading law firms.

2. What was your first job?

Ambient replenishing floor assistant at Safeway Supermarket

3. Career highlight?

Interviewing Cherie Blair for the Lawyer Portal - an incredible and empowering woman. Love her!

4. Sunrise or sunset?

Definitely sunset - sunrise is a constant challenge.

5. What's in your desk drawers?

A load of old rubbish! Probably shouldn’t admit that!

6. Share some great advice you've been given.

My mum once told me it’s sometimes better to just let it go ... which I always bear in mind when I’m choosing my battles!

7. Can you recommend a local lunch or coffee spot?

The Salt Yard, Goodge St - the courgette flowers are to die for (does this entitle me to a discount?!)

8. How do you relax?

I don’t!!! Who has time to do that?!

9. What's your pet hate?

Rudeness.

10. Favourite city?

Sydney - hands down.

11. What book is on your bedside table?

Daniel Craig’s Biography (don’t judge me).

12. How would you spend your last £5?

On the kids ... why change the habit of a lifetime..?

13. Favourite TV box set?

I don’t really do box sets ... now, if you had asked for a favourite film ... Bond ... James Bond.

14. Hidden talents?

I can do the moonwalk (honestly) - spent years perfecting it as a teenager/diehard Michael Jackson fan.
